The Maine Principals Association has deemed Greely High School a Class A school for golf (as well as Falmouth). Under MPA rules, a conference with less than 3 teams in a class may send one team to the State Championship. If Greely and Falmouth stayed in the Western Maine Conference, either Greely OR Falmouth would go to the State Championship. If Greely and Falmouth move to a different conference, then there is the possibility both Greely AND Falmouth can go to the State Championship. The different conference is the SMAA and they have graciously allowed Greely and Falmouth to participate in their conference for golf only. As a result, Greely will now play teams like Bonny Eagle, Gorham, Thorton Academy, Westbrook and Windham rather than Cape, York, Yarmouth and Gray-New Glouchester.

Greely can start practicing on Monday, August 15th.  We will provide 3 “optional” days to play.  They are truly optional and do not effect team selection.  We provide these three days as prep days for tryouts which happen the following week.  Anyone trying out for Varsity is expected to attend tryouts on August 22-24.  If a player is unable to make the tryouts, they start on the Junior Varsity and may work their way up the ladder.
