Tournament Rules

MEN’S TOURNAMENT & RULES COMMITTEE

The Val Halla Golf Association invites and encourages all active Association Members to participate in the Tournament Schedule. There are a variety of formats and championship events that offer something for everyone. If you have any questions, please inquire in the Pro Shop. Head Pro Brian Bickford and his staff can answer most questions or help you contact a member of the Committee.

The Official Tournament Schedule will be in this booklet and posted in the Viking Lounge. While we make every effort to set the schedule and adhere to it, occasionally we are forced to make a change. We will give as much notice as possible. It is the player’s responsibility to stay posted.

RULES: USGA Rules of Golf Govern play. Items not covered see “LOCAL RULES”.

WEATHER: If the course is open, the tournament will be played. If the course is closed, weekly tournaments will be cancelled; major and championship tournaments will be rescheduled and the rain date will be posted.

SIGNUP: All tournament information, times, fees, formats, etc., will be listed. Sheets will be posted in the Viking Grill approximately 2 weeks prior to the event. By 9:00 PM on the Thursday before the tournament. Please sign up yourself. Call the Pro Shop only in an emergency. Print neatly; include your cart requirement.

Sign in the next empty spot. NOT IN THE SPOT OF A SCRATCHED PLAYER. You will be moved to the last spot. The last players to sign up over “even teams” will be alternates and will be called in order as needed. Once teams have been drawn and there is an emergency withdrawal, we will call the first alternate with similar handicap to the scratched player. If no equal-bracket player is available or it is too late to call, we will blind draw a replacement.

DRAWING: Teams will be drawn Thursday’s or Friday’s and posted on Friday’s.

SCRATCHES: Cancellations MUST be made before team drawings at 9:00 PM Thursday’s, in person or by calling the Pro Shop (only if you can’t make it in person.) Cancellations after teams have been drawn are a problem for the committee and teammates. Multiple no-shows and no-calls will jeopardize eligibility.
