Men’s Twilight League
Men’s league is moving back to match play…TEAM MATCH PLAY. Men’s league is moving to a shotgun start at 5:30 on Tuesday evenings. All matches will be scored and results known at the conclusion of each Tuesday night. Substitutes are allowed but not necessary to compete in a Tuesday evening match. The sign up and field will be limited to the first 30 teams, or 60 players, to sign up. Sign up as a team or as an individual and we will pair you. Don’t wait!
Cost & Fees
To be eligible to play in league, you must be a Val Halla GC member (either an Eagle or Birdie member); a VHGA member (which includes GHIN dues; $35); and register for the league (a fee of $25).
- Val Halla Membership (required): As determined by category selected.
- League Fee (required): $25 per player (paid back via Pro Shop credits)
- Association Fee (required): $35 per player (includes GHIN handicap fee)
- Regular Season Action (optional): $10 per team per week (paid back via Pro Shop credits)
2-man teams. You may pick your own partner or enter a pool of singles to be drawn before start of league. We recommend selecting a partner within 10-strokes of each other (for 18-holes) that way you’re not giving strokes all season long.
There will be a maximum of 5 flights; 6 teams in each flight (aggregate handicap to be used to determine flights).
All matches must be played on Tuesday night and at 5:30 (shotgun). If a team can’t make a match, we urge finding a substitute(s). If one player can’t play and they cannot find a substitute, a match can be completed 1-on-2 or 1 player versus 2 players. Each match is worth 9 points. A forfeited match is worth 6 points to the winner and 0 points to the loser. The format is 2-ball best ball match play, net (off the low handicap). Rain dates and cancelled dates will be determined by the Pro Shop and will result in pushing dates back 1-week or as needed.
Flight Winners and Playoffs
Each team will play all other teams in their flight (5-weeks) at which point there will be a First Half Winner. This will repeat for another 5-weeks after which a Second Half Winner will be determined. The first half winner will play the second half winner for the overall flight winner.
Overall Winners and Playoffs
The overall flight winners will move on to play for the Overall League Championship (5-teams). A 6th thru 8th teams will be represented by the best team (total points) not a flight winner. Ties for the 6th – 8th spot will be determined by which team got the most points each week beginning with week 1. If tied after matching league points, we will cut cards for the 6th – 8th spots. Matches in the championship round will be determined by seeding (total points earned). Ties for seeding will be by coin toss.
“NIT” or Cess Pool
For those teams who did not make the overall playoffs who want to keep playing through August, we will be holding a best-of-the-rest playoff for $20 per team. We will play a variety of formats and pay prizes based on the size of the field (25-33% of the field).
All pro shop action will be team action with the exception of closest-to-the-pins. Team gross and net as well as skins will be team based. This way you can ‘pick-up’ to speed up play.
